DESE Family Engagement Survey

posted Jan 13, 2014, 9:44 AM by Dianne Georgantas

Families... The Mass Department of Elementary and Secondary Education wants to hear from you!

Each year the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) surveys parents in select school districts to determine how well your child’s school is communicating with you and promoting your engagement in your child’s education. It’s your district’s turn this year.

Your opinion matters! Make your voice heard!

·      The web-based survey will be open in January 13, 2014.

·      You can complete the survey online at http://maparentcohort2.com

·      Ask your child’s school principal if you need help in accessing and completing the survey.

Your participation in this survey is important in helping both the ESE and your local school district in improving educational programs for all students and in enhancing your participation in your child’s education.

Why should I complete the Family Engagement Survey? Our district and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) want to hear from families about just how well your child’s school is doing in working with you on your child’s education. We can use what we learn from families to help make our schools better. Your participation is voluntary, but we really want to hear from you. Your opinion matters!

What should I do if I need help in finding and completing the survey? You can ask your child’s school principal to help you find and then complete the survey. Schools are finding ways to help all families participate in the survey.

I have more than one child attending school. Should I complete a survey for each child? Yes, you should complete one survey for each child.

My child receives special education services. Should I complete a survey for my child? It is especially important for you to complete a survey if your child is receiving special education. There are additional questions on the survey intended for families of children receiving special education.

How is the confidentiality of my responses protected? The survey is completely confidential and won’t include your name or your child’s name. There is no personally identifiable information requested on the survey.

You can find a link to this survey on the individual schools and district websites.
