Early Release Day - October 3rd

posted Sep 16, 2011, 6:17 AM by Dianne Georgantas

This message is a reminder that the district’s first early release day of the school year will take place Monday, October 3rd.  High school students will be dismissed at 1:10 pm, middle school students at 1:30 pm, and elementary students at 1:40 pm.

This will be the first of five release days this year.  The other dates are December 5, February 6, April 2, and May 7.

Further Information for Elementary Parents/Guardians

If you are interested in having your student remain at school from 1:40 pm to 2:45 pm on October 3rd, please contact the school’s office by Friday, September 23rd so we can make arrangements.  Our plan is for substitute teachers to provide supervised activities for this hour.

Students who attend the JCC or Greenwood after school programs will be picked up at the early dismissal times on these dates, similar to the way in which they handle half-days of school.

Also, there will be no PM kindergarten on the early release days.

We are most appreciative of the community’s support in providing this time.  It allows us to have a series of two hour curriculum and professional development meetings among same subject and grade level teachers from across the district.  We will continue to provide information about the work accomplished at these meetings on the district web-site.
