The Longmeadow Public Schools are proud to announce the opening and
dedication of Longmeadow High School, located at 95 Grassy Gutter Road in Longmeadow, MA.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2013 with tours beginning at 10:00 am and the ceremony occurring at 1:00 p.m.  Featured speakers include Treasurer and Receiver General Steven Grossman,
MSBA Executive Director Jack McCarthy, School Committee Chairman Michael Clark, and Select
Board Chair Marie Angelides. The event will celebrate community contributions to the
construction of the new building. The event will also feature musical performances from student
groups at Longmeadow High School including Lyrics and Jazz Band.

Before and after the ceremony, the community will be invited to tour the building while cake and light
refreshments will be offered in the schools cafeteria.

The Saturday dedication ceremony will be preceded by a dinner in appreciation of neighbors of
the high school on Thursday, September 26th at 6:00 pm. In addition, a concert and luncheon for
the senior community will be celebrated on Friday September 27th at 11:45 am. “The
administration, staff, School Committee and Building Committee would like to show their
appreciation to the people of Longmeadow for funding this twentyfirst century high school,” said Marie Doyle, Superintendent of Schools.

The goal of these celebrations is to make the dedication of the high school a true community
event. The Dedication Committee’s focus is to make this as special of an occasion as possible
with an eye on the people who helped this day become a reality. “Invitations will be sent to the
entire Community in hopes that they come,” said School Committee Chairman, Michael Clark.

About Longmeadow High School:

The Longmeadow High School building project began in 2010 with an overwhelming vote by town
meeting. At the cost of approximately $78 million, the project received reimbursement by the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts for approximately 51% of reimbursable portion. The first
section of the building opened in February of 2013, and the renovated section will open on
September 3, 2013.

The new portion of the building features a state of the art auditorium, a technologically focused
media center, shared classrooms, staff offices, an arts wing and more. If you have not had a
chance to tour our new high school, please join us for one of the three upcoming events so that
students may give you a tour of our beautiful, new facility.
