Point of Sale (POS) computer system in Cafeterias

posted Mar 24, 2010, 8:58 AM by Dianne Georgantas
Letters were mailed to families of students in the Longmeadow Public Schools on March 19, 2010 regarding the implementation of the new POS System in the school cafeterias.  Parents are encouraged to pre-pay for their child's meals by sending in cash or check (check is preferred for security reasons) in order to speed the service time and allow more time for the students to eat.
Middle and High School students have been issued a unique four digit pin number.  All students, regardless of meal eligiblity status will need to use their PIN #s.  PIN #s should be memorized and not shared with other students!
Elementary students will enter the cafeteria by classroom and line up accordingly.  The cashier will bring up the students "by classroom" on the POS screen and be able to quickly touch each student's photo to process meal counts.  There will be no PIN #s or ID cards issued to elementary students.
Schedule for implementation:
Monday, March 29th - training day for cashiers in the afternoon
Tuesday, March 30th - Longmeadow High School
Wednesday, March 31st - Glenbrook and Williams Middle Schools
Thursday, April 1st - Blueberry Hill, Center and Wolf Swamp Road Schools
Questions may be directed to:  The Food Services Department 565-4230
