The early work begins on the LHS building project

posted Oct 26, 2010, 5:24 AM by Dianne Georgantas

The first phase of the Longmeadow High School building project will be underway the first week in November!  Our construction manager, Gilbane Co., will be performing some early utility relocation in preparation for the demolition of the Administrative wing which is scheduled for the first quarter of 2011.

The relocation of utilities is required in advance of the Administrative wing demolition.  The work will consist of trenching and backfilling for the laying of new duct banks for electrical and telephone lines; a new electrical transformer pad; as well as, additional work by Verizon.

Part of the early site work includes installing a new concrete sidewalk from the parking lot of the Blinn Tennis Courts to the high school.  The sidewalk will be a permanent structure and is being built to accommodate students who will be required to park at the Blinn Tennis Courts during construction.  The School Building Committee estimates a total of 40 parking spots will be temporarily required at the courts until the new parking lot has been built in 2013.
