| Discuss the relevance of vaccines and antibiotics in 2003. When the doctor prescribes an antibiotic for you, his patient, what does the antibiotic do in your body? Describe what type of immunity you get when you receive a vaccine such as the Oral Polio Vaccine, or the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella vaccine. What type of immunity is obtained when you actually have the disease such as chicken pox or the flu? What type of immunity does a mother give to her newborn child? How long does it last? What are some good health habits that you can practice to protect yourself and others from germs and disease? Name at least 5 and discuss how they prevent the spread of disease and germs. Poll the members of your group and report your opinions on the following question: Should people be allowed to refuse vaccinations or antibiotic treatment because they don't believe in them? |
