Draw Like an Egyptian
(The CD is in King Tut's Toy Chest") 1. From this activity you will learn about Ancient Egypt from your tour guide, Archibald. This is an interactive CD. You and your partner(s) should "click" on different screens to look for hidden pieces of the puzzle as you read each screen.
2. Your assignment is to explore the Topics on the Main Menu of the CD and complete the study guide as you continue moving through the story.
3. As you listen to the story, you will learn some interesting facts. Try and uncover all the hidden puzzle pieces.
4. Upon completion of this activity, place in your portfolio for validation.

3. Celebrate by creating your own NAME on the cartouche provided. A cartouche was similar to a clay tablet used for writing people's names in hieroglyphics. * Remember to use authentic Egyptian colors and designs on your cartouche.
4. Each member of your group should place his/her completed design in the portfolio for validation.

1. Read through this Daily Life in Ancient Egypt page and learn more about ancient Egyptian daily life. Explore the web sites listed there to learn more about the culture of the ancient Egyptians.

1. Egypt was once two kingdoms. One was to the north of the Nile Delta and the other was to the south of the delta. The delta area was known as Lower Egypt. The southern part was called Upper Egypt. Most of Egypt's ancient cities were located along the Nile River.
2. Explore some of the web sites below to learn more about some of the famous cities along the Nile and their historical significance.

1. The Egyptian people worshipped hundreds and hundreds of different gods and goddessess. It was sometimes difficult to work out who was who. Many of the gods were represented by animals. For example, a baboon might stand for Thot, who was the god of wisdom at one temple, and a moon god called Khonsu at another. Each of the different districts had its own god.
2. Follow this link to a site on Ancient Egyptian Mythology. It is an excellent guide to the world of Egyptian myths and legends and includes pictures and descriptions of the gods and some of the most frequently used symbols.
