The strong connection between parents and educators is one of the many reasons Longmeadow is an outstanding place for learning and teaching. This connection has strengthened over the years. Although teacher emails/newsletters, assessment data, learning management systems (such as Power School and Google Classroom), and other services have made it easier to stay informed, we believe that meaningful conversation remains the most powerful way to support student growth.
To reflect this, we are excited to share that LPS is moving toward a more modern, flexible approach to parent teacher conferencing, one that promotes families and educators connecting when it matters most for the child, rather than waiting for fixed dates.
Our district will continue to offer designated parent-teacher conference times, as outlined in the district calendar. You may choose not to schedule a fall and/or spring conference and instead schedule a conference when one is needed. LPS educators are prepared to work with
families to schedule conversations at mutually convenient times and a mutually convenient format, whether in person, by phone, or virtually.
At the middle school level, core academic teachers have dedicated team time available each day for scheduling check-ins.
PK- 8 Conference Schedule:
Fall: Similar to previous years - two half-days in November dedicated to parent-teacher conferences. There will be no evening conference in the fall.
Spring: One evening for conferences, plus a full day (8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.) dedicated to conferences. There will be no half-days for conferences in the spring.
Conferences can be in-person, video-based or via phone. See above for additional flexible scheduling opportunities.
Grades 9–12 Conference Schedule
Fall: Similar to previous years - one evening in October dedicated to parent-teacher conferences.
Spring: One full day (8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.) dedicated to conferences. (This increases available conference time significantly.)
Conferences can be in-person, video-based or via phone. See above for additional flexible scheduling opportunities.
This updated approach will strengthen home-school communication, give families and staff more flexibility, and provide them with the time needed to engage in thoughtful, productive conversations about each child. Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment.
We look forward to connecting with you throughout the year and, as always, welcome your feedback as you connect with your child(ren)’s educators.
